Supercell, the creators of Boom Beach, have gone out of their way to deliver us all a fair and balanced game, and they have been quite successful at it. There are lots of different things you can do to put yourself in a good position while playing Boom Beach, however to gain a slight tactical advantage in the game you will want to follow these pro tips. These nuggets will make your life so much easier in the long run you’ll wish I would have written this 6 months ago. Be sure to leave your tricks in the comments below!
1. Rush Your HQ As Much As Possible
Even though this game is made by the same guys who make Clash of Clans, there is NO penalty for rushing your HQ up levels without upgrading all your stuff first. In fact doing so will give you a significant advantage by unlocking new items for you to use in battle… Things such as more troop landing crafts, higher armory levels and more. It will also make defense a bit easier by giving you access to more powerful turrets such as rockets and shock launchers. If you choose to upgrade all your stuff before your HQ for every level, you are going to get mowed over. Always upgrade the HQ as soon as you can.
2. Upgrade Your Vault First Thing After An HQ Upgrade
There is nothing more frustrating that getting attacked when you go offline while sitting on a shit ton of resources. When you do get attacked (which you will) you want to be able to protect as much of the loot you worked so hard for as you can. By keeping your vault even with your HQ, you assure your’re saving as much of your bounty as possible. This is just plain common sense but something many players overlook or ignore due to the high cost of vault upgrades. Trust me, it’s worth it.
3. Don’t Ignore Defenses But Focus On Offense
It is important to keep somewhat of a balance between your offense and defense. But when trying to decide what to upgrade next put a bit more focus on getting your offense as strong as possible over your defenses. The stronger your offense, the easier it is to run over other peoples bases allowing you to steal their resources. I try to play like this… For every 1 defensive upgrade I do, I try to do 2 things to make my offense better like troop boat upgrades and especially armory research.
4. Do Not Rush Your Radar
When you level up your radar, it allows you to explore more islands and uncover more enemy bases to attack. However, you do not want to blast your radar levels too much too fast. Leveling up your radar too quickly will result in your VP score going up. If your defenses or offense are not ready for that, all of a sudden you’ll find yourself surrounded by enemy bases that are simply too difficult to beat. You’ll also find yourself spending much needed gold on exploring more regions on the map rather than armory research. Keeping your radar at a somewhat lower level is a good way to help keep your VP in check and gold in your pocket. Those higher level armory troop upgrades are spendy!
5. You Need To Have A Dark Resource Reward Statue
No matter what kind of statue strategy you decide to go with, you need to absolutely make sure that one of your Masterpieces is a Resource Reward statue. It blows my mind to see people not running with this statue. This statue increases the amount of resources you take in your attacks… So if you have a 50% RR Masterpiece and you attack a base with 100k in wood you walk away with 150k instead. Just like that. I have no idea how people get enough resources for large upgrades without having this statue in play. And here is a bonus tip… When you are sitting down and have “stacked” your map (finding players you know you can beat with lots of resourses over the course of a day or two) and are ready to “clear” it, apply a boost to the resource reward statue and watch how quickly you are able to save up for big purchases. You can thank me later.
