Cities: Skylines by Colossal Order
Move on over SimCity, there is a new King of the city builder genre, and its name is Cities: Skylines! This game is what we all hoped SimCity 4 was gonna be. This is probably the best city builder I have played in the last 10 years to be perfectly honest with you guys.
Modeled after SimCity in just about every way, these guys found a way to heavily improve upon the game we all grew up with and innovate in ways to make the game much more fun and enjoyable. Add in the fact that it’s moddable and already enjoying some neat expansion packs and you are off to the races!
Just like any other game this one has some problems, mainly with traffic flow. Also, the lack of disasters can leave it feeling a bit repetitive after a while, but for the hard core builders out there, this game is like a brand new unopened box of legos.
The neatest thing about this game is that you finally have the ability to recreate your favorite real life cities in pretty decent detail. And thanks to the large community, if you want to drop in a Subway or Walmart on the corner, you can do that. Simply download new buildings from the Steam Workshop.
Cities: Skylines is now available for a variety of platforms including Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS and can be yours for around $30.
