Planet Coaster by Frontier Games
I’ve been a lifelong fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon, ever since the very first game came into my life and I was holding out hope that RCTW would give me my latest fix. Wow how things have changed over the years. The new RCTW sucks ass, and a totally new game on the market is the new king of coaster games. Well it’s not totally new…
Frontier games were the creators of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and parted ways with Atari afterwards. It turns out that was a good thing as they went all in on creating a true successor to RCT3 with Planet Coaster. Atari is now just a thing of the past…. And the new Planet Coaster is a thing of near perfection.
It is still in Alpha phase with a upcoming release date in November. The great thing about it is this game is already so polished and chalk full of wonderful little details any fan of the previous theme park builders are gonna burst wide open. The creations people are creating with the limited tool set of just one Pirate theme and the base blocks. A quick search on Youtube will just show you how amazing this thing is.
Planet Coaster now gives us the ability to build both inside and outside rides…. So for those of you who always wanted to recreate Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean you are in luck! Included with the Alpha release are the lighting effects and they are mind blowing. Water was just recently released in the last update and it is good looking as well. And now you can crash your coasters into your peeps, just like the good old days. You can even sell express passes and crete express ride queues for those well off peeps in your park.
Folks, this is all just the tip of the iceberg. We are sure to see much more with the full release of the game, just in time for the holidays!
