Planetbase by Madruga Works
Planetbase is a “city builder” where your objective is to colonize a planet and survive. It was released on October 16, 2015 on Steam. It features beautiful alien landscapes, catchy music and a complexity that keeps you hooked for hours. I absolutely love this game.
Obviously being on a foreign planet adds that element of disaster being just a food, power or water shortage away. You really need to micro-manage each building and staff member to succeed at this game. In addition to trying to just survive with the basic human needs, you also have to watch out for planetary catastrophes like sandstorms, blizzards, meteor and lightning strikes and deadly solar flares. It is safe to say this game is always trying to kill you.
There are 4 different sandbox planets which resemble the moon, Mars, Europa (a moon of Jupiter), and Titan (a moon of Saturn) where you can go for Steam achievements. There are also 4 separate “Challenge” planets where you have to hit certain goals to win. There are quite a few different types of buildings to build but I’m hoping to see even more complexity added to the game in future updates.
So there are just a few of the reasons you should get into this game. Most noteworthy is the fact that Planetbase is only $19.99 on Steam right now. This game is a steal! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new fun twist on the city builder genre.
