Prison Architect by Introversion Software
This game has been available on Steam for a while now in a beta state and just came out with the final release or “2.0” version recently. If you have not played this one before or haven’t played it in a while it is time to fire it up because this final release is quite a treat!
The premise of this game is really simple. It’s a management/simulation game where you design and then manage a prison. You can run a men’s or women’s prison, and are responsible for everything from strip searching new inmates to feeding them all the way to conducting executions with the electric chair in your own death row.
You can start off fairly easy creating a minimum security prison and work your way up to making a Supermax facility. Watch out for convicts with shanks as keeping your guards safe is a high priority, followed by the inmates safety from themselves as they sneak in drugs, alcohol and their outside gang affiliations. There is never a dull moment in this one.
Once you have perfected your prison and its policies, become an inmate in your own prison and then try to break out of it in Escape Mode. You can recruit other convicts into your own prison gang, beat up on the guards and even take out the warden. Tap into that dark side of yourself that is always trying to get out…
I really don’t have any complaints about this title. I found myself hooked from the instant I started running through the tutorials. Be careful, as the same could happen to you! Available now on Steam for about $30.
